The 2025 Alumni Day of the Sacred Heart Seminary Akure Old Boys Association (SHSAOBA) was a memorable celebration of faith, fraternity, and service, bringing together alumni from different generations alongside current seminarians for a day of worship, learning, fellowship, and celebration.

The day's activities commenced with a walk-in ceremony and assembly, followed by a solemn Requiem Mass celebrated by the Bishop of Ondo Diocese in honour of deceased alumni. The occasion was particularly nostalgic as alumni once again wore their school uniforms and participated in assembly, Mass, and meals with the seminarians.

A major highlight of the celebration was the Alumni Lecture titled "The Viral Illusion: Confronting the Menace of Fake News in the Social Media Era," delivered by Prof. Lawrence Gbore. The lecture generated engaging discussions on responsible communication and the ethical use of social media while encouraging members to promote truth and integrity in their interactions.

The programme also featured awards recognising excellence and outstanding contributions, fostering a culture of encouragement and service within the Seminary community.

The afternoon provided opportunities for fellowship as alumni and seminarians shared meals and experiences, while an exciting football match between the alumni and current students symbolised the enduring bond between generations.

The day's celebrations concluded with an elegant Alumni Gala that provided an atmosphere for networking, reunion, and thanksgiving.

As part of the celebration, the Class of 1985 donated ₦400,000 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of their graduation, while SHSAOBA presented an additional donation of ₦200,000 towards the continued development of the Seminary.

The Association also witnessed the institution of several new student awards aimed at encouraging excellence in academics, discipline, and Christian living, further demonstrating SHSAOBA's commitment to nurturing future generations of leaders.
