A Word From The President

Welcome, Brother.

President of SHSAOBA in Sacred Heart Old Boys regalia
SHSAOBA

To every brother who once walked these hallowed grounds — welcome home. Sacred Heart shaped us in prayer, in study, and in fraternity. Today, we return not only to remember, but to build.

Our Association exists to preserve the legacy of Sacred Heart Seminary Akure, to strengthen the bonds among Old Boys, and to support the ongoing renewal of our alma mater. The building project before us is more than brick and mortar — it is a gift to the next generation of seminarians who will one day serve the Church and the world.

I invite you to join hands with us. Together, we honour those who came before and shape a home worthy of those still to come.

Our Story

A Legacy of Priestly Formation.

“Established to form shepherds after the Sacred Heart of Christ.”

Sacred Heart Seminary, Akure was founded to raise a generation of priests grounded in the Catholic faith, formed in prayer, sharpened by study, and prepared for the mission of the Church in Nigeria and beyond.

For decades, its halls have echoed with the voices of young men discerning their call. Some entered the priesthood; others carried the seminary's formation into medicine, law, education, government, and family life. All of them were shaped by Sacred Heart.

SHSAOBA is the living continuation of that story — the Old Boys giving back to the home that made them, so that Sacred Heart may continue to form men for God's people.

Why This Project Matters

More than a building.
A promise to tomorrow.

“The seminary that formed us must be worthy of forming those who come after.”

01
A Home for Future Seminarians

Every young man discerning a call to the priesthood deserves a place fit for prayer, study, and formation. The new building answers that need.

02
Beyond Repair — A Renewal

Decades of use have taken their toll. This is not a patchwork fix; it is a generational renewal of the physical home of Sacred Heart.

03
A Gift That Outlives Us

The walls we raise today will shelter priests, teachers, and shepherds not yet born. This is a gift of legacy.

Prayer Corner

Let Us Pray Together.

Before we build with hands, we build with prayer.

For the Seminary

Sacred Heart of Jesus, look with favour upon this house where young men are formed for Your service. Keep its walls a place of prayer, its halls a school of virtue, and its chapel a garden of vocations. Amen.

For Our Benefactors

Loving Father, we lift up every brother whose generosity builds these walls. Reward their sacrifice, keep their families in peace, and let their names be written where moth and rust cannot touch them. Amen.

For Future Priests

Lord of the harvest, raise up shepherds after Your own heart. Bless every young man who walks through these gates and grant that many may say with joy, 'Here I am, Lord, send me.' Amen.
