SHSAOBA Welcomes 33 New Alumni as the Class of 2026 "Bellwethers" Graduates

The Sacred Heart Seminary Akure Old Boys Association (SHSAOBA) proudly welcomed 33 new alumni into its growing family as the Graduating Class of 2026, known as the Bellwethers, successfully completed their years of academic, spiritual, and human formation at Sacred Heart Minor Seminary, Akure.

The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, 24 July 2026, began with a solemn Holy Mass during which thanksgiving was offered to God for His guidance, protection, and abundant blessings throughout the students' years of formation.

Following the Mass, parents, clergy, alumni, friends of the Seminary, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the graduation of the Bellwethers. The occasion was filled with gratitude, excitement, and hope as the graduating students concluded an important phase of their educational journey and prepared for new opportunities ahead.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of prizes and awards to students who distinguished themselves in various aspects of seminary life. Outstanding students received recognition for academic excellence, exemplary conduct, leadership, discipline, and commitment to the values of Sacred Heart Seminary.

The 1999 Set of SHSAOBA sponsored the Academic Excellence and Character Awards, through which prizes were presented to the best-performing students in various academic subjects from Junior Secondary School (JSS) to Senior Secondary School (SSS).

Special awards also recognised students who exemplified the core values of the Seminary, including the Best Behaved Student, Neatest Student, Most Pious Student, Most Obedient Student, and Most Hardworking Student. These awards celebrated not only academic success but also integrity, discipline, Christian virtue, and personal character.

The inspiring ceremony reaffirmed the Seminary's commitment to holistic education by recognising students who excel academically while living lives of discipline and service.

With their graduation, the thirty-three Bellwethers were formally invested as members of SHSAOBA, joining a distinguished network of alumni committed to preserving the Seminary's heritage and supporting its mission.

In welcoming the new members, the leadership of the Association encouraged them to remain actively connected to their alma mater by participating in SHSAOBA activities, mentoring younger seminarians, supporting future projects, and living out the values of faith, humility, integrity, and service wherever life takes them.

The Association congratulates the Bellwethers on this remarkable achievement and prays that Almighty God will continue to guide, protect, and bless them as worthy ambassadors of Sacred Heart Seminary.
